About Us

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.

The Greater Syracuse Area Section (E008) of SWE was created in March of 1985 and consisted of 11 members from both the Mid-Atlantic and New England Regions Member At Large (MAL) Sections.  We are part of the SWE Region E.  This Section is currently comprised of SWE members from zipcodes beginning with 130, 131, or 132 and any MAL members who choose to be assigned to this Section.

Our Section and the Syracuse University SWE Section visited the National Women's Hall of Fame and the Women's Rights National Historic Park in Seneca Falls, NY
